| Upplands Väsby is situated in an excellent
position as it is only 20 Km from Stockolm and only 15 Km from the Arlanda International
Airport. This strategic position has attracted the attention of numerous companies, as
Siemens, Samsung and Marabou... which have contributed to the economical increase of the
region. The central part of the town is concentrated in a small area which means you can
reach all activities by foot. Upplands Väsby has 37,000 inhabitants. The town is plunged
in the nature and offers various opportunities to do sports activities, such as golf,
cycling, canoeing and horse riding. Upplands Väsby is surrounded by many lakes, such as
Lake Norrviken, which offers a naturalistic bike track, and Lake Mälaren, where you can
go along, by canoe, the Viking Route, which is about 100 Km long and which passes through
places full of historical remains, such as ruins of ancient fortresses, castles and
ancient rune-stones. |

Upplands Väsby owns numerous manors of
great historical interest. Among the most beautiful ones we have the Runsa Palace (17th
century), the Stora Väsby's Castle, from which the town takes its name, and which dates
back to 1291, and the Sättra Farm, on the Lake Mälaren, where the poet Carl Jonas Love
Almqvist spent a part of his childhood.

| The oldest building of the town is the Ed
Church (12th century), with medieval frescos. In the Hammarby's Church, there
is an altarpiece that dates back over five hundred years. Inside the Fresta's Church,
there are ancient lime frescos. In the Smedby Park, we find the "Gunne
Homestead", an open-air museum which is a reproduction of a Viking homestead in
Sweden. In the surroundings, there are places of great historical interest. In Runsa, you
can visit the most ancient Viking grave in shape of a stone ship, and a beautiful Runsa's
fortress with an astonishing view over the lake Mälaren. |
