City |
| The Southern point of Finland is the pearl
of Finland. The wonderful landscape with inland ridges and vast archipelago areas is
combined with a rich and fascinating cultural history. The magnificent archipelago,
unspoiled woods and pleasant small communities offer unique opportunities for adventure
and recreation. The old iron works communities laid the foundation for the Finnish
industry. The old settings are carefully preserved as museum areas and a walk in Svart a , Antskog,
Billnäs or Fiskars is an adventure for the whole family.

The Southern point of Finland is at a
convenient distance from all mayor cities in Europe, less than four hours by air from
Athens, Rome or Lisbon. The distance from Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is about 80
Km. Swedish is the main language spoken in the area since the 13th century. The
region has a population of approximately 40,000 inhabitants. In the area there are two
towns (from West to East): |
| Hanko (In Swedish Hangö) was
founded in 1874. Hanko is a maritime, industrial and tourist town. It has about 11,600
inhabitants: 52% speak Finnish and 47% speak Swedish.

Ekenäs (In Finnish Tammisaari),
an idyllic small town on the coast of Western Uusimaa - received its city rights as early
as 1546 from the Swedish King Gustavus Wasa. The town has grown on a narrow peninsula
surrounded by a an archipelago stretching as far as 20 km out to the sea with around 1300
islands. It has preserved the character of an idyllic small town, with its many gardens
and parks, and the wooden buildings of the old town. The medieval castle of Roseborg is
situated 15 km from the centre. Population:15,000 inhabitants of which 82% are
Swedish-speakers.
