Opening Ceremony
Lets Go opened this 6th Eurofestival on July 14th (the
French National feast) with the traditional fireworks. In the afternoon, the Ceremony
started with a 4 km parade between the 2 villages of St Sulpice en Pareds and Thouarsais
Bouildroux ending onto the Soccer ground. There, after listening to the 15 hymns, local
personalities welcomed the 1000 European delegates in front of 10000 visitors and all the
partners of the French committee.

Eurovillage
The Eurovillage Was set up in Thouarsais. As usual, it was a huge
exhibition of traditions, folklore and local productions of the 15 European countries.

Euro Note
Before the forthcoming European law, Lets Go and its bank
associate the « Credit Agricole » - created a "Euro note",
only currency accepted on the stands and bars during the Eurofestival. 40000 notes were
printed on this occasion.

Sport Events
Mixed teams in basketball, soccer, petanque and tennis ;
tranquillity of the fishing and petanque competitions ; lovely landscapes for the cycling
; team spirit during the running : all the competitors enjoyed this wonderful cocktail.

Cooking Competition
Chefs from the 15 delegations competed in a friendly atmosphere in
front of an official jury. On the menu, many local specialities such as stuffed snails,
swedish toasts, fried soles served with oranges from Valence.

Cultural Shows
Every night, 2 or 3 delegations performed their
wonderful show in front of a huge audience. It was one of the most successful aspect of
the Festival during the week.

Catering
Every day, the French Committee was in charge of
preparing the meals for the 15 delegations and all the volunteers. More than 14000 were
served during the week (cold lunches and warm dinners, specialities of the
"Vendee").

Touristic Day
The French committee chose to bring all the
delegates to the « Puy du Fou », which is one of the most visited place in
this part of France. The "Puy du Fou" is both a theme park dedicated to history
and ecology, and a magnificent sound and light show. All the visitors could hear on that
day the Spanish flutes in the distance and the Danes, dressed like their Viking ancestors,
were at the right place within the medieval village. Before the beginning of the show, it
was a cheerful atmosphere !

Closing Parade
This parade took place in the streets of La
Châtaigneraie under a hot blazing sun. The local population joined the delegates in this
long and colourful parade. It was another day of happiness for all the French spectators
just a week after the National soccer team became World Champion !

Trophies
Lets Go really wanted to thank all the
delegations as well as the 17 villages of the area that kindly accepted to help the
committee in its mission. These villages were for example in charge of providing all the
delegates with accommodation. Lets Go offered to all of them a trophy representing a
hot air balloon made of glass and stone, symbol of an outstanding and unforgettable week.
